PETITION TO WALK IN THE FALL COMMENCEMENT
CEREMONY
Do I need to file the Undergraduate Petition to Walk?
If you are completing all requirements by the end of Fall 2007, you only need to file the Application for Degree and RSVP to attend the Fall 2007 Commencement. The RSVP is due November 9, 2007.
If you need
to complete 4 OR FEWER credits/requirements after
the Fall 2007 semester
and want to attend the formal Commencement Ceremony on December 9, 2007
you may Petition to Walk in Commencement. Please review the following guidelines:
· Students
may petition to walk in the Commencement Ceremony of their respective school
on Sunday, December 9, 2007 if they are 4-or-fewer credits from completing
their requirements to graduate.
· The review of petitions will being after October 1, 2007. Email notifications will be sent to students that have applied during the week on Friday mornings throughout the petition period. All petitions must be received by 5pm on Friday, November 9, 2007. All decisions are final, and will be communicated to students by Monday, November 19, 2007.
· If the petition is approved, the student will receive an email confirming the decision. On November 16, all approved petitioners will receive an official e-mail from the Commencement Office. The official email must be printed presented at the Bookstore in order to purchase the cap and gown, and to receive 4 guest tickets to the ceremony.

Students that have petitioned to walk in the
Fall 2007 Commencement ceremony will not be listed as candidates in the
Fall 2007 Commencement program. If all requirements are completed by Spring
2008, their names will appear in the Spring 2008 program. They may obtain
a copy of this program in June 2008 by contacting Mary Burns at commence@binghamton.edu.
Procedures:
1. Obtain the Petition to Walk in Undergraduate Commencement form. This may printed from here, or pick up a form by visiting the Registrar’s Office, SW119. Instructions are also provided on the form.
2. Complete the petition form, and combine it with a copy of your current DARS. The DARS may be obtained by visiting http://busi.binghamton.edu.
3. Submit the completed petition form and DARS to the Registrar’s Office before 5pm on Friday, November 9, 2007. Ensure the correct email address is provided on the forms so your decision may be communicated promptly.
